Message by the President of Pakistan on Kashmir Solidarity Day (5th February, 2016)
On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the Government and the people of Pakistan solemnly reaffirm their unflinching and continued moral, diplomatic and political support to the heroic struggle of the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir
We, alongwith the free people across the globe, salute the brave, valiant and courageous men, women and youth of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir who laid their lives for the sacred cause of freedom in the last 68 years. We pay homage to thousands of Kashmiri martyrs. Despite the worst and gross atrocities by the Indian security forces, people of Jammu and Kashmir refused to accept the Indian yoke and demonstrated that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be wished away.
The Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains the unfinished agenda of the Partition and is also one of the longest unfulfilled agenda of the United Nations. Numerous resolutions of UN Security Council on Kashmir remain pending because of Indian obstinacy in implementing them. We urge India and the international community to fulfill the promise it made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir 68 years ago.
The Kashmir dispute remains close to the heart of every Pakistani. We give the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir our solemn pledge that they can count on us in their hour of anguish. We will always stand by our Kashmiri brothers and sisters until the realization of their cherished dream of freedom. The Kashmir struggle will continue till the freedom of the oppressed people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is achieved.
Message by the Minister of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan on Kashmir Solidarity Day (5th February, 2016)
The right to self-determination is a revered principle of International Law. But even after more than 68 years, this fundamental right is being denied to the oppressed people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir despite the fact that this right was promised to them by the United Nations Security Council in its numerous resolutions.
The valiant and courageous people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have shown exemplary steadfastness in their struggle for freedom from Indian subjugation. In the course they have gone through unimaginable sufferings and sacrifices. Yet, they have shown heroic perseverance in waging struggle against the Indian yoke. The Indian security apparatus, despite its appalling brutalities, can never crush their spirit and aspirations for freedom. All the Indian efforts to defame the freedom struggle by labeling it as terrorism have failed miserably and rejected by the International Community. Freedom struggle cannot, and must not be equated with terrorism.
We urge the International Community to wake up and take notice of the gross human rights violations occurring in IOK. It is also the responsibility of the International Community to fulfill its promise made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir 68 years ago of granting them their right to self-determination through a free and impartial plebiscite. International Community must not compromise on the revered principles of International Law and Justice for the sake of economic interests in India.
On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, we reiterate our firm and continued moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of IOK in their sacred struggle. Only implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions can amicably resolve the Kashmir issue. Until then peace in the region will remain an elusive dream.
