PR No.19 Call On The Special Assistant To The Prime Minister On Foreign Affairs By The Director General (Political), Foreign And Commonwealth Office Of The UK Islamabad: March 2, 2016

The Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs (SAPM), Tariq Fatemi, received Sir Simon Gass, Director General (Political), Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

The Special Assistant and the Director General exchanged views on Pakistan-UK bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over their positive trajectory. They acknowledged that the high-level interactions between the leadership of the two countries had contributed significantly in strengthening bilateral cooperation in a number of areas including trade and economy; regional peace and security; as well as countering violent extremism and terrorism.

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister highlighted that the UK was a close friend and a leading trade and investment partner of Pakistan, and appreciated its cooperation in the fields of education, health and social sector development. The SAPM also briefed the Director General on the Prime Minister’s initiatives for regional peace and stability, and his strong commitment to maintaining cordial relations with all neighbouring countries.

Sir Simon Gass acknowledged the positive contribution being made by Pakistan for the regional peace and security, and reassured his country’s continued support on all areas of mutual interest.
