Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed on Monday said there was no justification to demand the formation of a national government in the country. This was stated by the minister during his visit to the under-construction Hazara Motorway, at NHA Camp Office, Burhan today.
The minister said that the present government during its two and a half year term had delivered to the people.
He pointed out that the economy had stabilized while the operation Zarb-e-Azb had broken the back of terrorist organizations and law and order in Karachi had improved markedly. He wondered why there is the call for a national government.
Despite sit-ins and protests from the Opposition, the Prime Minster had played the role of a statesman and taken along all the provincial governments including KPK and Sindh where PTI and PPP were ruling respectively.
To a question, he said that the PM has constituted a committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and all the four chief ministers are its members while the PM would chair it. Any issue related to the CPEC would be addressed at this highest forum, he added.
About the Hazara Motorway, he said the project would not only improve the communication link of Hazara Division with Northern Areas but also open new venues for economic activities. It will also change the fate of the people of the area, he added.
He said this project will create indigenous economic opportunities that will take Hazara and other areas, including Azad Kashmir to new heights of development and prosperity.
Moreover, it would form part of the CPEC project which will give multiple dividends to the nation, he added.
Keeping in view the rush of traffic on Karakoram Highway (KKH) timely completion of the project was need of the hour,he added.
Earlier the minister was given a briefing by the NHA. He was informed that the 60-km Hasanabdal-Havelain section formed part of the 110-km long, 6-lane motorway.
The minister was informed that about 36 percent progress has been achieved on first package while 30 per cent progress has been achieved on the second package.
First two packages would be completed by March next year while the third would be completed in December 2017.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the construction work of the project on November 29, 2014.
Later the minister visited the under-construction motorway where he was given a detailed briefing about the project. The minister expressed satisfaction of the progress of the project.
