King Abdullah of Jordan made a telephone call to President Mamnoon Hussain and condemned the terrorist attack at Bacha Khan University in Charsadda and expressed profound grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of innocent students and staff members in this tragic incident. He expressed complete solidarity with the people and government of Pakistan and assured of his country’s full support in the fight against terrorism.

President Mamnoon Hussain during the telephonic conversation thanked the Jordanian King for his gesture and said that Jordan and Pakistan are bound together in fraternal ties which are old and time tested. The President said terrorism poses threat to the whole world particularly the Muslim countries. President Mamnoon underlined the importance and need for a joint strategy and efforts by Muslim Ummah less than one platform to counter and eliminate the scourge of terrorism.

Elaborating Pakistan’s efforts for Muslim unity, the President apprised the Jordanian King of the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif to Saudi Arabia and Iran for removing tensions between them and forging brotherly relations between the two countries.

The President also apprised King Abdullah of Pakistan’s efforts for establishing peace in Afghanistan for stability and progress in the whole region.

King Abdullah appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting unity amongst the Muslim Ummah and expressed his hope that Pakistan’s efforts in this regard will bear fruit.

President Mamnoon Hussain extended an invitation to King Abdullah to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
