PR No. 176 Up-Gradation Of Capital’s Hospitals Is Top Most Priority. Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary Islamabad

Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CA&DD) Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has said that under the vision and directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, provision of better Healthcare facilities and up-gradation of hospitals of the capital was his top most priority. He stated this while chairing a meeting of Steering Committee for extension of Federal Government Polyclinic Hospital (FGPC) here on Thursday.

Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has directed Pak PWD to complete the design for the expansion and re-construction of Islamabad Polyclinic Hospital within minimum possible time so that actual construction work on the project can be started.

The Steering Committee was briefed in the meeting that Polyclinic had to pay a total amount of Rs. 44.848 million to Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the transfer of Argentina Park land. Rs.5 million has already been released to CDA through AGPR. Remaining Rs.39 million is being released within next ten day through re-appropriation. Finance Division has approved the re-appropriation of funds. Argentina park land will be formally given into the possession of Polyclinic administration on full payment of the amount.

Chief Engineer Pak PWD briefed the meeting that design for expansion and re-construction of the polyclinic will be completed within 60 days after holding a competition among the shortlisted firms having expertise and experience in the hospital design. The said design shall be submitted to the steering committee for the final approval. After approval of the design by steering committee, financial competition among the firms for final award of the contract would be held in the second phase.

Representative of Planning and Finance Divisions present in the meeting have also committed to extend their full support and co-operation for the earliest completion of this important project.

MOS for CADD has appointed Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Naru, Deputy Project Director as focal person for the project and directed to present weekly progress report on the project.

The Minister CA&DD has said that this project is very important for the provision of better Healthcare facilities to the residents of Islamabad and its adjoining areas therefore no delay in this regard will be tolerated. He said that this project shall be completed within the deadline and the quality of work shall not be compromised.
