PR No.234 PM SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM MEETING Islamabad: January 25, 2017

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Chairman Prime Minister Sustainable Development Goals Program has chaired a meeting of steering committee on SDGs today at Islamabad.

The meeting discussed implementation of PM’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals Programme in order to provide basic facilities including clean drinking water, sanitation, and electricity supply.

The Minister has said that it was the vision of the PM and that the development programme should not be politicized as it had no links with the parliamentarians and was purely a development package with clear focus on addressing basic needs of the common man.

The meeting directed to speed up the release of funds to the relevant departments and ministries. The minister has said that each and every region and constituency is given priority and are treated equal regardless of any political affiliation. The minister has said that each MNA and MPA will be given funds based on the needs of their local community and district administration will supervise the development work and it will take all the stakeholders on board. The Minister has expressed hope that the projects like water supply and provision of gas and electricity will be completed in time. The meeting was attended by members of steering committee Capt. Safdar and senior officials of concerned ministries.
