PR No.177 ADVISER SARTAJ AZIZ MEETS OIC SECRETARY GENERAL DR. YOUSEF AL-OTHAIMEEN IN KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA Jeddah: January 19, 2017

The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Mr. Sartaj Aziz, today, met the Secretary General of OIC Dr. Yousef Al-Othaime on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The OIC Secretary General informed the Adviser that under instructions from President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdo?an (Turkey being the current Chairman of the OIC), a delegation of the OIC’s Independent Human Rights Commission will be paying a visit to Azad Jammu and Kashmir in March this year. The OIC is also requesting India to allow the delegation to visit Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK).

The Advisor briefed the OIC SG about the gross human rights violations in IOK and the resilience shown by the Kashmiri youth in the past five months since the landmark extra-judicial killing of Burhan Muzaffar Wani on 8 July 2017.

The Advisor also thanked the Secretary General for convening the Extraordinary Session of the OIC Foreign Ministers on the Rohingya issue.

The Advisor invited the OIC Secretary-General to visit Pakistan.
