PR No. 105 “Visit Of Minister Of State To Muzaffarabad For Prime Minister’s National Health Program” Islamabad

In line with the vision of Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan universal health coverage “Prime Minister’s National Health Program” is all set to be launched in Muzaffarabad during the month of February 2016. Today Federal Minister Health, Saira Afzal Tarrar, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination (NHSRC) has visited the city of Muzaffarabad to review the program preparedness for its launch in district Muzaffarabad. On this occasion Minister of State briefed that this scheme will bring drastic improvement in the indoor quality treatment and access to hospitalization for poorest and under privileged marginalized people of Pakistan. While addressing the press conference in Muzaffarabad she also explained that an estimated number of 83 thousand families of Muzaffarabad living below the poverty line will be benefitted from PM’s program. Minister also explained that through this cash less scheme each beneficiary family will be provided with free of cost indoor hospital treatment of Rs: 300,000. This includes Rs: 50,000 for minor medical and surgical treatment and Rs: 250,000 of major 7 diseases. The major 7 diseases includes Heart diseases (Angioplasty, Bypass), Management of Diabetes Mellitus and its complications, Burns and Road Traffic Accident including life & limb saving treatment, dialysis, management of chronic infections and management of cancer including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. She also explained that with the support of Pakistan Bait Ul Mal additional similar amount will be allocated for those beneficiaries who have crossed their limits of treatment during hospitalization and require additional financial support for treatment continuation.

This additional support to the beneficiary family has given an access to the services of Rs: 600,000 indoor hospitalization treatment to the beneficiary family. She also informed that this program has already been launched in Islamabad and Muzaffarabad will be the second district. Overall the program will be launched in 23 districts of Pakistan and will be providing services to 3.2 million families who are living below poverty. Minister also visited the hospitals which will be empaneled in the program and which will be providing indoor quality treatment services to the program beneficiaries and showed her satisfaction on program preparedness. She was also accompanied by representatives of Federal Ministry as well as by Azad Jammu and Kashmir health department and local administration. In the end she assured that ministry, under her supervision, will work day and night to guarantee the success of this program in providing benefits to the people of Pakistan as per the vision of Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan.
