This media seminar was attended by the representatives of media/ TVchannels, academia, representative of International Human Rights Commission and members of Pakistani community in Lebanon. Addressing this media seminar, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Najeeb Durrani recalled that 74 years ago India invaded Kashmir through military force on 27 October 1947 when Kashmiri people were aspiring accession of their state to Pakistan, says a press release received here today from Beirut. Ambassador Durrani pointed out that on 5th of August 2019, by revoking the special constitutional status of Kashmir, the Indian government has made grave human rights violations and made the lives of Kashmir’s miserable. These Indian maneuvers are prejudicial to United Nations Security Council resolutions and international laws, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention which prohibits the occupier to transfer civilians from the 'Occupying Power' into the Occupied Territory". The Guest Speaker, Ambassador Haissam Abou Saeed, Commissioner to the International Human Rights Commission in the Middle East also addressed this media seminar and highlighted the grave human rights violations being committed by the Indian Security Forces especially after the revoking of special status of Kashmir by Modi government. Another Guest Speaker, Professor Dr. Haitham Mazahem also shared his thoughts with the participants of this media seminar. He noted that Kashmir’s are fighting for their freedom since 1947 and the whole world has turned a blind eye to their resistance which is very similar to that of resistance by the Palestinians. He appreciated the role played by Pakistan for the peaceful solution of Afghan crisis and suggested that Pakistan should use its influence on China, Russia, USA and other leading nations for the resolution of the Kashmir issue.
