In view of prevailing water crises in Islamabad, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Pakistan Council for Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) and Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) in the presence of Honourable Federal Minister for Science and Technology Senator Syed Shibli Faraz. Aforementioned MOU has been signed to meet drinking water supply challenges in Islamabad. Under this MoU, PCRWR will provide technical assistance to FGEHA for working on various mutually agreed initiatives for resolving water issues in different sectors (G-13, G-14, G-15, F-15, etc) of Islamabad being managed by FEGHA. The details of major activities include Enhancing groundwater recharge and establishment of monitoring network, complete ground water resource assessment, Development of automatic system for the estimation of system losses for managing demand and supply gap, Formulation of ground water regulatory framework, Water quality monitoring and analysis of surface water, waste water and waste water re-cycling for multiple uses. In Line with directions of Honorable Prime Minister Imran Khan, Ministry of Science and Technology under leadership of Federal Minister for Science and Technology Senator Syed Shibli Faraz is making efforts to translate knowledge, research and experience into action towards sustainable water resource management. Ali Nawaz Awan Special Assistant to PM on CDA was also present in MOU Signing Ceremony. The signatories of MOU were Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Chairman-PCRWR and Mr. Tariq Rasheed DG, FGEHA.
