On the invitation of the organizers “The Gulf Intelligence”, the Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Mr. Jam Kamal Khan and Chairman OGDCL Mr. Zahid Muzaffar participated in the UAE Energy Forum 2016 in Abu Dhabi on 12th January 2016. The Forum is held every year under the patronage of the UAE Minister of Energy H.E. Eng. Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei. The meeting was attended among others by the UAE Minister for Energy Eng. Suhail Mazrouei and Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, says a press release received from Press Section, Embassy of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi here today.

The forum brought together key policy makers and CEOs to deliberate on the direction of energy market in the region in the coming year. The Minister of State and Chairman OGDCL participated in various sessions. During discussions on new energy corridors in Asia, the Minister of State Jam Kamal Khan highlighted the high priority the Government of Pakistan attached to establishing energy corridors. In this regard, he informed the gathering about the inauguration of TAPI project in December in Ashgabat. In addition, Pakistan was also working to import electricity from Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. With a view to diversify the energy sources, a fresh LNG terminal was being constructed at Gwadar.

Chairman, OGDCL Mr. Zahid Muzaffar underscored the recent initiatives to develop Pakistan’s energy infrastructure including laying of new pipelines in the country. He highlighted the demand for oil and gas in Pakistan and underscored various opportunities for win-win collaboration in the field.

At the conclusion of the discussions, high level delegates had a working luncheon with the UAE Energy Minister. Minister Mazrouei also had a brief bilateral interaction with the Pakistani dignitaries separately on the sidelines of the event.
