A webinar was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo to discuss the latest situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan’s perspective on the latest developments in Afghanistan, says a press release received here today from Tokyo. The webinar was addressed by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan, Imtiaz Ahmad and was attended by Ambassador Ayaz Wazir, high officials of Embassy and a large number of prominent Japanese media representatives. At the outset, the Ambassador briefed the participants regarding the latest situation in Afghanistan. He said, while there are challenges in the current situation, the real opportunity lies in finally ending 40 years’ war in Afghanistan. He said that it was critically important to take measures to stabilize the security situation, prevent renewed conflict, and preclude any mass exodus of Afghans as refugees. The international community must engage actively with positive messaging and constructive steps, he added. The Ambassador said, Pakistan has been the first country to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. Pakistan Embassy in Kabul was working 24/7 by providing fast track visas for evacuation of international personnel including staff of international organizations & NGOs, diplomats and journalists. He said, Pakistan also supported the Japanese Self Defense Forces’ evacuation mission by expediting visas and providing speedy flight clearances.
