PR No.98 CHAIRMAN MAJLIS DAULA (UPPER HOUSE) LEAVES FOR PAKISTAN Islamabad: January 12, 2017

His Excellency Dr. Yahya bin Mahfooz Al-Manzari, the Honorable Chairman Majlis Daula (Upper-House) Sultanate of Oman is leading an eight (8) member Parliamentary delegation to Pakistan. H.E. Ali Javed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman met with Hon’ble Chairman and the delegation at the Royal Lounge of Muscat Airport earlier today and exchanged views on the visit as well as matters of mutual interest including inter-parliamentary and political cooperation, says a press release received here today from Muscat.

The Ambassador was then invited to bid farewell to delegation which left for Islamabad on a Special Aircraft. Also present on the occasion were three dignitaries from the Upper House namely Vice Chairmen HE Sheikh Dr. Al Khatab bin Ghalib al Hinai and HE Dr. Ms. Soaad Muhammad Ali Sulaiman as well as HE Dr. Khalid Salim As Saiidi, the Secretary General.

During the visit, the two Chairmen of the Upper Houses will convene bilateral talks while Hon’ble Chairman Senate of Pakistan will accompany the delegates for a calls on the Hon’ble President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The Parliamentary delegation will also hold separate meetings with the Hon’ble Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and Senate’s Pakistan-Oman Parliamentary Friendship Group, among other commitments.

The VIP visit to Pakistan is scheduled from 11-14 January, 2017. Coming 4 months from the bilateral visit to Oman by HE Sartaj Aziz, Hon’ble Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs (September 3-5, 2016), it shall add impetus to the high level exchanges.

Upon arrival at Islamabad, the Parliamentary delegation was accorded an unprecedented ‘Red Carpet’ Reception by the Honb’le Chairman Senate HE Mian Raza Rabbani, reflective of the extraordinary relations with Sultanate of Oman.
