The Federal Minister for Narcotics Control, Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah chaired a meeting and took detailed presentations of Ministry's operational wings and all sections. He said that its alarming that there are increased violent crime and abuse issues, the Minsiter instructed to prioritize and speed up operations against the drugs that ignite such destructive behaviour. Brig (R) Ijaz Ahmad Shah also told the officials to get detailed analysis of effects of drugs on individuals and prioritize the controlling activities accordingly. "Along with awareness, a close check on controlling the spread is need of the hour" he said.
The Minister said that the progress of anti drug operations, drug controlling and drug demand reduction activities should be gauged on monthly basis. He further emphasized on the need of adopting zero tolerance policy against drug suppliers.
Secretary Narcotics Control, Akbar Durrani (TI)/PAS and senior officials of the Ministry attended the meeting.
