PR No. 71 SAPM TARIQ FATEMI SIGNS CONDOLENCE BOOK ON SAD DEMISE OF AYATOLLAH ALI AKBAR HASHEMI RAFSANJANI Islamabad: January 10, 2017

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi visited the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad this morning to sign the condolence book to express condolences at the sad demise of Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the former President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Chairman of the Expediency Council.

Conveying his heartfelt condolences at the loss of the great Iranian leader, Mr. Fatemi said that he would be remembered as one of the pioneers of the revolution in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The SAPM said that this was not only a loss of the Islamic Republic of Iran, but also of the Government and the people of Pakistan who revered him as a true friend and well wisher of Pakistan.

Mr. Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, who passed away on 8th January 2017, remained President of Iran from August 1989 to August 1997.
