Fisheries Development Board Ministry of National Food Security and Research, Government of Pakistan organized a “Training of Trainer” program in Cage Culture Cluster Development Project funded by Prime Minister National Agriculture Emergency Progarm, which was held between 10th to 19th June 2021, Islamabad. The Master Trainers was selected from the public sector fisheries departments of four provinces and GB, AJK and from the private sector experts through inviting EOI. A closing ceremony was held on 19th Jane, 2021 at Fisheries Program, NARC, Islamabad chaired by Dr. Khurshid Ahmad, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, MNFSR and participated by Dr. Muhammad Akram, CEO, FDB, Mr. Muhammad Junaid Wattoo, CTO, FDB and Dr. Safia Mushtaq, Project Director. The speakers during the session highlighted the role of the project for development of the fisheries sector and need for trainings and capacity building of the fish farmers and cage operators. Dr. Safia stated that this is a first step to developed Master Trainers who will impart trainings to 1200 Fish Farmers in public and private sector, experts of fisheries & aquaculture, Hatchery Operators, Investors of Aquaculture and Labor force for aquaculture enterprises. The training covered orientation session, curriculum development, course standardization, introduction to modern delivery methods and demonstration at farms to boost the blue economy of the country. In the closing remarks Chief Executive Officer, Fisheries Development Board shared that FDB will impart trainings throughout the Pakistan to upscale the knowledge of potential fish cage farmers and public and private stakeholders. At the end of the ceremony, certificates were distributed among participants.
