Meeting of Dr Nazia Mumtaz and Ms Shabnam Imran , President & Member Board of Governors respectively , Pakistan Speech & Language Pathologists Association (regd.) with Dr Zafar Mirza Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health. The meeting was held at Hon’ Minister’s Office at Ministry of Health Services to apprise of the Objectives of the Association.
Dr Zafar Mirza took Keen interest in the objectives and posed Queries regarding educational requirement of becoming a Speech and Language Pathologist and also regulation of the profession. Ms Shabnam IMRAN shared that the objectives including the elimination of quackery and being made part of the Allied Health Council to represent the Association as the registered body. Dr Nazia Mumtaz shared that accredition of educational institutes and standardisation of curriculum was also a concern of the Pakistan Speech and Language Association of Pakistan.
The Hon ‘ SAPM informed that the process to form a Allied Health Council is likely to be sent to the Federal Cabinet and advised to approach Healthcare Commission to eliminate quackery and assured to look into the issues highlighted and pertaining to Health Ministry and appreciated that the Association was working for this noble cause.
