PR No. 20 “COMMERCE MINISTER DETERMINED TO FACILITATE EXPORT OF FRESH FRUITS” Islamabad: January 3, 2017

Minister for commerce, Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan expressed his resolve to facilitate export of Fresh Fruits in a meeting with Mr. Jalat Khan Achakzai, Chairman FPCCI Custom Committee & Mr. Muhammad Naeem regarding Import-Export and transit at Chaman Border.

The delegation discussed various issues in the meeting that included, easing up of excessive checking by FC at Chaman border that causes undue delay in export of goods & fruits, which is adversely affecting exports as delay at times exceed one week time, establishment of separate export and transit lanes at Chaman border so that the pace of exports can be improved, creation of an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) at Chaman and lastly demand for the Duties to be paid in Chaman instead of Quetta.

Minister for Commerce, Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan assured the delegation of full support and said that the issue of excessive checking and establishment of separate export and transit lanes at Chaman Border will be taken up with IG FC. “Demand for creating an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) at Chaman and payment of duties in Chaman instead of Quetta will also be taken up with the relevant quarters.

The meeting ended with a note of special thanks by the Chairman FPCCI Custom Committee Mr. Jalat Khan Achakzai.

Earlier today the Federal Minister for commerce, Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan visited the newly constructed building of Pakistan Institute of Trade and Development (PITAD) located on Pitras Bukhari Road, Sector H-8/4 Islamabad, to oversee the ongoing progress of the project.
