PR No. 193 FINANCE MINISTER ISHAQ DAR SAID PEACE IN AFGHANISTAN IS DIRECTLY LINKED WITH THE PEACE IN ITS NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES ESPECIALLY PAKISTAN Islamabad: April 22, 2017

Washington DC: Federal Minister for Finance & Economic Affairs Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar apprised his Afghan counterpart Mr. Eklil Ahmed Hakimi about the recent economic situation in Pakistan and highlighted the steps taken by the present Govt for enhancing the GDP growth rate and putting Pakistan on the way of sustainable economic development.

During the course of discussion, both the Finance Ministers agreed that well-coordinated economic and trade policies would enable both Pakistan and Afghanistan to reap fruits of economic progress and development.

Ishaq Dar said that peace in Afghanistan is directly linked with the peace in its neighbouring countries especially Pakistan.

During the meeting with the Afghan Finance Minister Mr. Eklil Ahmed Hakimi, Minister Dar strongly condemned the tragic terrorist attack on the Afghan military in which more than 100 soldiers lost their lives.

 

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated that Pakistan is willing to work closely with Afghanistan to establish peace in the region. The strong economic ties between the two neighbouring countries are necessary to achieve the goal of peaceful neighbourhood, he concluded.

Both the Ministers agreed to hold meeting of the Joint Economic Commission of Pakistan & Afghanistan in near future.
