PR No. 201 WHO HANDS OVER MEDICINES AND SURGICAL EQUIPMENT FOR AFFECTEES WORTH OVER RS. 3 MILLION – DR. ZAFAR MIRZA Islamabad: September 26, 2019

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza has said World Health Organization has handed over 3 Million Rupees worth of medicines and surgical equipment for the earthquake affectees of AJK to the Government of Pakistan. The medical supplies are being rushed to Mirpur, AJK. This gesture followed the assessment carried out by joint team of Federal Health Ministry and WHO to ascertain losses in the earthquake affected areas which was completed by the team working in the area for over 18 hours. We stand with the people and Government of AJK in these testing times and remain in touch with AJK Prime Minister and Health Minister, Said SAPM. Executive Directors of Islamabad hospitals are in contact with AJK hospitals to provide any assistance that may be required, he said. Basic Health Units in close proximity to Mirpur have been badly damaged by the earthquake. Our teams are on their way to those areas, said SAPM.
