PR No. 57 Pakistan Embassy Brussels Observes Defence Day and Solidarity with People of Kashmir: Rich Tributes Paid to Gallantry of Armed Forces Speakers Condemn Indian Fascism in Kashmir Islamabad: September 07, 2019

To commemorate the Defence Day of Pakistan and express solidarity with the people of Kashmir, Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels organized an event on 6th September. Besides Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora people from all walks of life including politicians, academics and media participated in large numbers. The speakers highlighted the role of armed forces of Pakistan in the defence of the country and peace in the region. While discussing the atrocities being committed by India in the occupied Kashmir the participants condemned the fascist approach of current political set up in India. The speakers called for peaceful solution of Kashmir through the implementation of their right to self-determination as envisaged in the Resolutions of United Nations. The speakers included Acting Ambassador Mr Nauman Bhatti, Chairman Friends of Pakistan Group in Brussels Parliament ,Senator Mumpaka Bertin, Honorary Consul General of Pakistan in Gent Ms Karin Zoeter , journalist Anita Bonaldi, Dr Manzoor Zahoor, Chairman Kashmir Council EU Mr Ali Raza Syed, Chairman Pakistan- EU Friendship Chaudhry Pervez Loser, Maulana Hasnat Bokhari Councilor Muhammad Nasir Choudri , Councilor Amir Naeem and Maham Sohail. Ms Rubina Kausar recited poem on martyrs. Head of Chancery Mr Giyan Chand conducted the programme which began with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mr Mazhar Iqbal. Remembering the heroes of 1965 War the speakers paid homage to martyrs and their families. They asserted that Armed Forces of Pakistan were determined to defend every inch of Motherland and safeguard the security and sovereignty of Pakistan at all costs. Mr Parvez Loser paid tributes to the armed forces of Pakistan for the gallantry and professionalism in defending the country from aggression by the enemy. He reckoned 1965 war and recent incidences of 27th February, when Pakistan army countered the aggression from India in a benefitting manner. He said that Armed Forces of Pakistan have always proved their readiness and professionalism. Expressing solidarity with the People of Kashmir speakers called upon international community to take effective actions for checking gross human rights violations in Kashmir, Senator Mumpaka Bertin assured that he will brief and mobilize his political party about the situation in Kashmir and ask members of Brussels and Wallonia Senate to take note of deteriorating condition of Human Rights in the Indian occupied Kashmir and initiate actions at all the possible levels. The chairman Kashmir Council EU, Mr Ali Raza Syed informed that he has learnt from reliable sources that people were dying from hunger and disease due to complete lock down and were compelled to bury the dead ones in the back yard of their houses as they are not allowed to step out of houses even to go to graveyards. Ms Karin Zoeter and Ms Anita Bonaldi, in their speeches, condemned Indian government for changing the disputed status of Kashmir unilaterally by revoking articles 370 and 35A of its constitution and referred to the reports of international organization about inhuman conditions being faced by the people in Indian occupied Kashmir due to curfew . Pakistani origin councillors Muhammad Nasir Choudhri and Aamir Naeem strongly criticized Indian government’s fascism in Kashmir and informed about briefing their political parties about the situation with the view to activate politicians for taking actions. They called upon Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora to brief their respective representatives about the situation in order to gain political support at all levels. Earlier Charge d’ Affaires and acting ambassador Mr Nauman Bhatti delivered the message of President of Pakistan whereas Minister Press Syeda Sultana Rizvi read out Prime Minister’s message for 6th September. Both the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan have expressed full confidence in the readiness and professionalism of armed forces and their capability of giving befitting response to any kind of aggression by the enemy. The prime Minister has said “Pakistani forces have already displayed a very high standard of professionalism in the recent past and we will continue to do so when challenged.” *-*-*-* ?
