The National Security Adviser Lt General ® Nasser Khan Janjua held a meeting with Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, State Minister for Education, Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman and Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr. Mukhtar related to Maddaris and main streaming, this afternoon.
Besides, Secretary National Security Division, Secretary Federal Education and Training, Inter-Board Committee Chairman, Chairman Federal Board of Intermediate for Secondary Education Islamabad, Pakistan Madrasa Education Board, Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University and Director General Higher Education Commission also attended the meeting.
NSA at the outset highlighted the importance of Maddaris and the good work they continue to do. He said, the students of Maddaris anywhere and everywhere are the sons and daughters of the Nation. They are equal and as good as all others. The State needs to provide equal treatment and opportunities to all un-equals. The forum discussed and deliberated in detail upon all such measures and incentives which should be provided to Maddaris and their students to embrace them in the main streaming of overall educational system of the country. All the opportunities existing in each and every sector in the country should also be opened to them as well to absorb them in the society as a strength of the Nation. The students of Maddaris be provided with the equivalence affording them the flexibility to opt for technical education or even doing their M.Phil and Phds as desired by them. It was decided that after due diligence and necessary deliberations with concerned Ministers and Institutions, NSA will a prepare a package of incentives for main streaming of Maddaris. Thereafter the same will be discussed with Wafaqs of all Madaris, Religious Scholars, Ullemas and Mashaikhs. The final decision will be taken after the necessary consensus is evolved through collective wisdom.
