PR No.24 PAKISTAN OFFERS HUGE OPPORTUNITIES FOR JAPANESE INVESTMENT IN DIVERSE FIELDS, SHEHZAD ARBAB Islamabad June 10, 2019

Mr. Kuninori Matsuda, Ambassador of Japan today called on Adviser to Prime Minister on Establishment Mohammad Shehzad Arbab at the Prime Minister’s Office, Islamabad. Pak- Japan bilateral relations with focus on technical cooperation were discussed during the meeting. Congratulating the ambassador on assuming his charge in Pakistan, the adviser said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Japan and expressed hope that the new ambassador would prove instrumental in furthering jacking up the already existing close Paki- Japan bilateral ties. The Adviser while highlighting the strengths of Pakistan said that Japanese investors and companies can benefit from the huge potential Pakistan offers in various areas including human resource development, agriculture, fisheries, housing, tourism development and information technology. The ambassador termed the bulging youth population a great bonus for Pakistan and assured all out support of the Japanese government and companies to impart training through its development agency JICA(Japan International Cooperation Agency) to the unskilled and semi-skilled labour force of Pakistan to enable them live and work in Japan. He said that Japan has opened its markets for certain countries and Pakistan is one of the target country for absorption of labour force in various areas of interest like textiles, IT, automobile, Agri and food industry. Referring to the governance approach adopted in Japan, the adviser said that Pakistan aims at further enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the bureaucracy through comprehensive civil reforms and that Pakistan can benefit from certain aspects of governance model of Japan especially Personnel management and training of officers. He said that Japan considers Pakistan a great trading partner and is keen to work with the new government to enhance bilateral cooperation. MY/AA
