H.E. Mr. Kuninori Matsuda, Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan called on Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination this afternoon. The Japanese Ambassador discussed areas of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Japan placing special focus on sports and tourism. Dr. Fehmida Mirza warmly welcomed the guest and said that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Japan. She acknowledged and appreciated Japan's role as Pakistan's key development partner over the years. Dr. Mirza said that the frequency of exchanges between the two countries at all levels, must be increased. The Ambassador said that after the successful visit of Pakistani and Japanese Foreign ministers, the next goal is to make the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, a success. He expressed desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation in sports and Tourism. “ Pakistan is home to ancient civilizations and with beautiful landscapes , it can be an attractive tourist destination” he added. Dr. Mirza said that both tourism and sports are quite close to the Prime Minister’s heart. Any cooperation in this regard will be appreciated. The organizational structure of tourism and sports in Japan was also discussed. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in sports, tourism, Youth Exchange and skill development programs.
