PR No.85 HEALTH MINISTER DR. ZAFAR MIRZA LEADS PAKISTAN DELEGATION TO WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY-WILL SHARE GOVT'S HEALTH REFORM AGENDA AT THE GLOBAL FORUM Islamabad, May 20, 2019

Minister of Health Dr. Zafar Mirza arrived in Geneva on Sunday at the head of Pakistan delegation to the 194 nation World Health Assembly that meets in the swiss capital from Monday. In his arrival statement the Minister said in today's world health is a shared responsibility, involving equitable access to essential care and collective defense against transnational threats.The World Health Assembly is the supreme decision-making forum where nations of the world converge to deliberate and devise strategies for promoting health and reducing disease burden. Country delegations led by Ministers for Health from all over the world are in Geneva to attend the World Health Assembly. I will present the major reform agenda of our government under the leadership for Prime Minister Imran Khan said the minister. There will be an opportunity to showcase progress made in different areas alongside our challenges and approaches adopted to overcome them, he added. Universal Health Coverage which is also the theme of this year's World Health Assembly will be our area of focus besides efforts to align our health reforms with WHO General Program of Work 2030. I look forward to holding important meetings with Health Ministers of different countries to discuss mutual cooperation in the field of health. I will also be meeting Director General of WHO and Regional Director of WHO alongside meeting heads and senior leaderships of leading donor organizations including Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Global Fund for AIDS, T.B.and Malaria, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization amongst others to discuss ongoing collaborative programs aimed at improving the health and well being of the people of Pakistan, added Dr. Zafar Miza.
