PR No.61 PRIME MINISTER’S YOUTH PROGRAMME TO COLLABORATE WITH UNDP FOR EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF PRIME MINISTER’S KAMYAB JAWAN PROGRAMME Islamabad, May 14, 2019

Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs held a meeting with UNDP delegation, headed by its Regional Director Asia Pacific, Mr. Haoliang Xu to discuss various avenues of mutual cooperation for the socio-economic development of youth including the launch of National Youth Development Framework (NYDF). Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar briefed the visiting delegates about National Youth Development Framework (NYDF), which is a vision document of the PTI Government for launching youth-focused initiatives in education, employment and engagement (3Es). He also shed light on the establishment of National Youth Council (NYC) for the first time in Pakistan. Moreover, the proposed National Youth Development Index (NYDI) survey, and constitutional framework for National Youth Development Programme (NYDP)/Kamyab Jawan Programme also came under discussion. He acknowledged UNDP’s technical assistance in the development of all these programmes. Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar said, “PTI Government is fully committed to develop effective ecosystem for the launch of coordinated interventions with different ministries for socio-economic empowerment of youth which comprise almost 68% of Pakistan’s population.” He added, “Under Kamyab Jawan SME Lending programme, Government plans to offer subsidized loans to startup companies in low cost housing, tourism, climate change and communication sectors for the creation of lot of employment opportunities for youth in the country.” Mr. Muhammad Usman Dar thanked UNDP’s Regional Director and his Pakistani team for their commitment to support Pakistan in different initiatives aimed at socio-economic uplift of youth. *-*-*-*
