PR NO. 173 UAE CELEBRATES THE NATIONAL DAY OF PAKISTAN Islamabad: March 23, 2019

The 79th National Day of Pakistan was celebrated with traditional zeal and patriotic spirit by Pakistanis living in the UAE at the premises of the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai, says a press release received here today from Abu Dhabi. The ceremony, in Pakistan Embassy Abu Dhabi, was inaugurated with flag hoisting by Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the UAE, Mr. Moazzam Ahmad Khan and playing of national anthem. National Day messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out. Students from Pakistani schools sang national songs with national zeal and enthusiasm. The event was attended by a large number of Pakistani community. Ambassador, in his message on this occasion, congratulated the Pakistani community living in the UAE. He said on this very day, the Muslims of the subcontinent resolved to achieve a separate homeland in order to lead their lives with dignity, honor and freedom. Ambassador Khan recalled the challenges confronted by Pakistan since its inception and how through national resolve, resilience and commitment by the Pakistani nation. While appreciating the unity and maturity displayed by Pakistani nation during the recent unprovoked Indian aggression against Pakistan, the Ambassador reiterated the readiness of Pakistan to play its part in winning lasting peace in the region. The Ambassador thanked the friends of Pakistan in particular the UAE who always stood by it in difficult times and contributed to its development. He paid special tribute to the founder of the UAE His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (Alarehma) who planted the sapling of friendship along with Pakistani leadership which has grown into a tall tree. He said that the successive meetings between the leadership of two countries in the recent months have yielded in transforming these bilateral relations into strategic partnership. Ambassador Khan also appreciated the role of overseas Pakistanis in the economic development of the country. He assured the community of full support and cooperation of the Embassy during their stay away from home. Another ceremony in UAE was held at Pakistan Consulate Dubai. The ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Qur'an. The Consul General of Pakistan, Mr. Ahmed Amjad Ali hoisted the National Flag, while the National Anthem was played. The messages of President of Pakistan and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out to the audience. In his address, Consul General recalled the great sacrifices rendered by our forefathers for a separate homeland. “Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the Founding Father of the Nation, envisioned a country where Muslims could lead their lives according to their own values and traditions, while the non-Muslims would also be free to practice their own religion”, he said. The Consul General mentioned that the Pakistani nation had witnessed many challenges and measured up to each one with resilience and resolve. In fact due to tremendous sacrifices by the valiant civil and armed forces personnel, Pakistan is an inclusive, tolerant and forward looking society. Pakistan is as safe as any other place in the world. The Consul General also thanked the government and people of UAE. Moreover, he pointed out that the recent three visits of Prime Minister of Pakistan- Imran Khan to UAE and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to Pakistan during last 6 months are manifestation of special affection and relations between the leadership and people of both countries. He extended his warmest felicitations to the Pakistani community residing in the Emirates. He urged the Pakistani community to contribute collectively towards the well-being and prosperity of our great homeland and UAE and adhere to the golden principles of Quaid-i-Azam: Faith, Unity, and Discipline. The Consul General also informed that several measures have been introduced by the Consulate General and more community friendly initiatives will be taken to enhance outreach and facilitation with all Pakistanis in Dubai and Northern Emirates. Both ceremonies concluded with cake-cutting to commemorate the 79thPakistan National Day.
