Federal Cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here today. In his opening remarks, the Prime Minister stated that our Government has always focused on welfare of the masses and more than Rs. 1 trillion development budget is unprecedented in the history of Pakistan.
The Cabinet considered and gave its approval for accession to the Shanghai Cooperation organization (SCO) Agreements/protocol. Pakistan applied to become a full member of SCO in 2010. The Heads of State Council of SCO, during its Ufa meeting in 2015, invited Pakistan to start the process of admission and signed a memorandum of Obligation (MoO) with SCO. The MoO, signed in 2016, outlines the steps required to be taken by Pakistan to become a full member. It also gives the time frame for accession of various MoO including accession of 34 SCO instruments.
The Cabinet considered and gave its approval of amendments to the private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) Act., 2010 (Act No. VI of 2012) to undertake functions of Alternate Energy Development Board (AEDB) in addition to its existing functions.
The Cabinet considered and ratified the decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in its meetings held on 30th March 2017, 14th April 2017, 28th April 2017 and 16th May, 2017.
The Cabinet also considered and ratified the decisions taken by the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCE) in its meetings held on 10th, 18th, 24th and 28th April, 2017.
The Cabinet considered and ratified the recommendations of the Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Cases (CCLC) in its meetings held on 3rd, 12th and 24th May, 2017.
The Cabinet also discussed and approved the Budgetary and Taxation proposals for the Financial Year 2017-18 to be placed before the Parliament.
