Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Nadeem in Karachi today. 

In his message of condolence to the bereaved family the Prime Minister Prayed to Allah Almighty to shower his countless blessings on the departed soul. He also prayed for the family of the deceased to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity. 

The Prime Minister said that the culprits who are responsible for attacking him 3 days back would be apprehended and brought before the law. The law enforcement agencies, he added have been directed to investigate the matter and arrest those responsible for the act of violence.

Federal Minister for Environment Mr. Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has said that Pakistan is a beautiful country which has strong cultural heritage. Pakistani culture is our identity and we should feel proud of it. He expressed these views in a painting exhibition of famous artist Musawar Munir, held at Lok Versa, Islamabad today.

Federal Minister said that globalization and modernization has made strong impact on our cultural values. He said that our new generation is not well aware of our strong cultural heritage. We have to save our cultural heritage and there is dire need to work in this regard he added.  Afridi said that being a nation, we have to highlight our cultural heritage. He told that Ministry of Environment is also playing its due role to protect the strong culture of Pakistan.

Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi admired the artistic work of Musawar Munir and said that Munir has beautifully introduced the cultural heritage. His paintings and photos are the reflextion of our culture. He identified the problems of Pakistani people and Muslim community. He also highlighted the dispute Kashmir and gave a message for to whole world for the solution of this issue. Through his paintings and photos, he gave strong message of hope and believes, to Pakistani and whole Muslim community. He highlighted the blessings of God in his work. He said that Musawar Munir is the asset of Pakistan and his artistic work is appreciatable. He is playing is valuable role not only to highlight the issues of Pakistan and Muslim community but also giving a message of right direction. The main theme of his paintings is “Natural Scenery, Artistic Lettering, International Problems and Pakistan Regional Culture”.

Federal Minister lauded the role of “Passion” who did great job to organiz this exhibition for Maryam Welfare Organization.

Earlier Minister for Environment saw all paintings and photos of artist Mr. Musawar Munir. On this occasion, artist Mr. Musawar Munir, Sadaqat Saeed Malik, Chairman, Passion & Maryam Welfare Organization, Asmat Ullah Hashmi, M.D, Passion, Shabana Malik, Chairperson, Maryam Welfare Organization  were also present.

BISP MONITORING CELL MAKING SURPRISE VISITS TO ENSURE TRANSPARENCY IN DISBURSEMENT

Special monitoring teams of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) are making surprise visits of post offices across the country to ensure transparent and speedy delivery of BISP money orders to the deserving families. This step shows how transparent the programme is.

It must be clarified here that the Pakistan Post is charged with the duty to BISP disburse cash assistance to the deserving families. The BISP monitoring teams make surprise visits to the post offices to make sure that the financial assistance is delivered to the deserving families. Federal Minister/Chairperson BISP Farzana Raja has taken serious notice of complaints against the post office staff and 26 employees of the post office have been sacked up till now after complaints were received against them.

For this very reason BISP is issuing Benazir Smart Cards to deserving families so they could receive financial assistance in a transparent manner with the help of modern technology. Benazir Cards will be issued in those districts where Poverty Survey has been completed and work on this is in full swing.

AFGHAN PRESIDENT TELEPHONED PRIME MINISTER

Islamabad; March 14, 2010

President of Afghanistan Mr. Hamid Karzai made a telephone call to Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani an hour ago and expressed grief and sorrow for the loss of innocent lives in acts of terrorism in Lahore and Mingora.

He reminded the Prime Minister that during their talks in Islamabad recently, he had mentioned that the circumstance in both the brotherly countries are so similar that an act of violence in any of the two neighbourly countries is followed by an act of violence in the other.

He was referring to the recent incident of terror attack in Kandhar and also to some other incidents of the past.

President Karzai further said that both brotherly countries need to coordinate their efforts to strengthen cooperation against terrorists and militants.

He stressed to develop a common strategy against terrorism in the larger interest of the people of the two countries and peace of the region.

President Karzai recalled his recent visit to Pakistan very fruitful and thanked the Prime Minister for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation.

The Prime Minister while reciprocating the feelings expressed by the Afghan President assured him that the people and the government of Pakistan are determined to root-out the menace of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

He condemned the incident of terrorism in Kandhar recently and expressed condolences for the bereaved families who lost their dear ones.
