PR No. 83 Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani soon after his arrival at Karachi, held a meeting with the Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at Governor House Karachi here on Sunday. The matters relating to the political situation in the Sindh province and the recent disturbances in the city following the terrorism acts were came under discussion. The Governor and Chief Minister apprised the Prime Minister on the law and order situation and informed that it has been improved a lot as the security has been beefed up to ensure the protection of the citizens. As regards political reconciliation between the political parties, the Governor and Chief Minister Sindh informed the Prime Minister that as a result of the dialogue process initiated it helped in bringing peace particularly in Karachi and generally in Sindh province. Earlier Prime Minister was received by the Governor Sindh and Chief Minister Sindh and high officials, on his arrival at Karachi Airport on 02 day visit.

No. 84 Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan held a meeting with the Japanese Deputy foreign Minister Mr Koichi Takemasa on the sidelines of the 46th Munich Security Conference, says a press release received from the Press Section ,Embassy of Pakistan, Munich ,here today, The meeting mainly focused on bilateral relations between the two countries with special emphasis on Japan’s assistance programme for the Socio-economic development of Pakistan. Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated his country’s support for various development programmes and assured that requisite funding would be provided in due course of time for completion of these projects. Both sides expressed their resolve to continue discussing issues to further strengthening relations between the two countries and extending cooperation to each other on various issues of international importance.
PR No. 85 Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Canada Mr. Akbar Zeb urged the international community to play its role in bringing an end to the repression, violence and human right violations being perpetrated against the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir who are struggling to achieve their inalienable right to self determination,says a press release received from Pakistan High Commission, Ottawa here today.. The High Commissioner was addressing a function organized by the High Commission in Ottawa on 5th February, 2010 to observe “Kashmir Solidarity Day”. The messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on this occasion were also conveyed to the audience. High Commissioner Akbar Zeb reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering political, moral and diplomatic support to the just struggle of the people of Kashmir for their right to self determination as enshrined in the UN Charter and United Nations Resolutions. He paid rich tributes to the countless sacrifices rendered by our Kashmiri brethren in the occupied areas of Jammu and Kashmir. High Commissioner stated that Kashmir Solidarity Day was an occasion to express our support and to recognize the countless sacrifices of the valiant people of Kashmir who have demonstrated resilience and remained steadfast in the face of oppression spanning over more than six decades. He assured the Kashmiri brethren that Pakistan remained firmly committed to finding a just and peaceful solution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspiration of people of Jammu and Kashmir and for full respect for their fundamental rights. He stated that people of Pakistan and Kashmir origin living anywhere in the world stand together with the people of Kashmir. They pay tributes to their sacrifices and resolve to work tirelessly to support the just and legitimate cause of the people of Kashmir. On this occasion, Professor Nasir Islam highlighted genesis of the Kashmiri uprising in 1987. In his speech, he mentioned about atrocities perpetrated on innocent civilian men and women particularly in Sopur, Baramula districts and the incident of Chati Singpura in the year 2000. He spoke of brutal methods practiced by the Indian security forces on the Kashmiri people in the detention centres. Professor Misbah Islam in his discourse built an argument to support the Kashmir cause on the moral, religious, political and strategic reasons. The function was attended by one hundred persons representing, a cross section of community, civil society groups, friendship associations, academia and politicians. At the sidelines of the function, a poster exhibition was held depicting sufferings of the people of Jammu and Kashmir at the hands of Indian occupied forces. The related literature was also distributed among the audience.
PR No. 86 Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed yesterday at the Embassy of Pakistan, Riyadh by the expatriate Pakistanis. Speakers at a well attended function expressed their solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren. The ceremony started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. H.E. the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Umar Khan Alisherzai presided over the function,says a press release received from the Embassy of Pakistan, Jeddah heretoday. The Ambassador in his opening remarks said that peace in South Asia can not be established without the solution of Kashmir issues. He said that South Asia at this juncture is standing on the verge of insecurity and instability due to the Kashmir problem that is lingering on for the last sixty years. It needs to be resolved according to the wishes of the people of Kashmir and in light with the UN Resolutions on the subject, he added. The Ambassador said that Pakistan are committed to express their solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for the right of self-determination and we will extend all possible moral, diplomatic and political support in this regard. The Ambassador said that Pakistan will help their Kashmiri brethren till Kashmir is made a part of Pakistan. Mr. Sherzai read the messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan on this occasion. While paying tribute to the struggle of Kashmiris, the Chief Guest Mr. Mehmood ul Hassan, the President of Jumat-e-Islami of Azad Kashmir said that the just struggle of these Kashmiris have forced India to resume dialogue with Pakistan. He said that the efforts of Government of Pakistan are laudable which in spite of its limitation is helping Kashmiri in their struggle for freedom. A number of other speakers highlighted the Kashmir issue in its historical perspective.
