PR No. 46 HEALTH IS A TOPMOST PRIORITY OF THE OUR GOVERNMENT: HEALTH MINISTER

The Federal Minister of National Health Services, Regulation &Coordination, Mr. Aamer Mehmood Kiani has said that health is a topmost priority of the our government from day one and major developments in this vital area will become evident in the near future. Minister has said that government is expending health card throughout the country. “I have talked to prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and requested to increase the existing health budget by 2% of GDP in next financial year”, said the health Minister. Government is establishing 4 state of the arts hospitals in the Federal Capital Islamabad. The Minister has stated that the ministry is upgrading all basic health units in Islamabad. The Minister was addressing the health Symposium organized by PIMS here on Friday. The minister further said that the advancement of medical profession is based on continuous research and education. Our aim is to improve the quality of medical education and training for under graduate as well as the post-graduate level but also to promote a culture of evidence-based practice of clinical service delivery. Our government wants to introduce a pro-poor health system, starting from Islamabad district as a model to revive people’s confidence in public sector’s capacity to deliver quality health care. Concrete steps have been taken to improve the health sector. Minister said that the PIMS is the largest tertiary care hospital in the public sector providing health facilities, not only to the patients of twin cities but the same to people of remote areas. Minister said that the PIMS is striving to advance the current healthcare practices by conducting a symposium on “Transforming Health Care” focused on current research, technological advances, hands on practice through training workshops for medical, dental and nursing professionals and post-graduate students. Our vision is to strengthen PIMS role as a premier tertiary care institute in academics, research and innovative clinical ground breaking procedures.
