PR No. 27 CHAIRMAN PCP PRESENTS ANNUAL REPORT TO THE PRESIDENT Islamabad: December 05, 2018

Chairman Press Council of Pakistan Dr. M. Salah-ud-Din Mengal presented Annual Report of the Council to President Dr. Arif Alvi here this morning. The President appreciated the performance of the Council and said that the Council and the Ministry of Information should jointly workout the strategy to evolve more organized mechanism to address the grievances of the complainants and effective implementation on Code of Ethics for print media. The President further said that we are living in an age where print, electronic and digital media are fusing with one another; thus giving birth to new concepts of the dissemination of information. The President added that media now is becoming a medium of two way communication where the general public is in a position to respond to or comment upon the information received, through social media. Secretary Information & Broadcasting Mr. Shafqat Jalil who was also present in the meeting informed the President that a concept paper on creation of Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority is in its final stages, which will be shared with the stakeholders as soon as it is finalized.
