The Punjab Bar Council led by its Chairperson Executive Committee, Ms. Bushra Qamar along with twenty (20) members met the Federal Law Minister at the Ministry of Law and Justice on 14th November, 2018. The Minister for Law and Justice briefed the Punjab Bar Council all about the very many laws which have been drafted by the Law Minister which include Whistleblower, Letters of Administration and Succession Certificates, Rent, Mutual Legal Assistance, Federal Service Tribunal Act, Civil Procedure Code, Legal Aid and Justice Authority, Enforcement of Possession and Ownership of Women Statutes. The Punjab Bar Council was of the unanimous view that in about 75 days, having completed all the said statutes and tasks was most commendable performance by the Federal Minister for Law and Justice. The Punjab Bar Council was of the view that amendments which have been proposed by the Law Minister were people friendly and contained revolutionary ideas to streamline the system of justice so that the cases would be decided expeditiously and all archaic irritants and concepts were being removed. The Punjab Bar Council fully appreciated the work of Federal Minister for Law and Justice and was of the view that so much work has not been done by the Ministry in about 75 years. The meeting was also attended by senior lawyers including M/S Maqbool Buttar, Ch. Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan, Ahmed Sadiq, Waseem Ahmed, Shakeel Gondal, Adnan Shuja Butt and others, who also commended the performance of Minister for Law and Justice and stated that all the lawyers hailing from Punjab appreciated the work performed by the Law Minister and stood with him in all the efforts to improve the country. The Punjab Bar Council also requested the Federal Minister for Law and Justice to request the Prime Minister to visit the Punjab Bar Council to apprise him of the problems faced by the Bar Councils and Associations in the country. The Punjab Bar Council also requested the Federal Law Minister to financially facilitate the Bar Councils and Bar Associations throughout the country. The Punjab Bar Council Stressed that the Federal Law Minister in Consultation with the Attorney General has made the recommendations for appointment of Law Officers purely on merit, which should be finalized as soon as possible.
