The Ambassador of Yemen, H.E. Mohammed Motahar Alashabi, paid a courtesy call on the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi today. He conveyed the felicitations and best wishes of the Yemeni leadership to the President on his election. The President reciprocated the warm sentiments of Yemeni leadership and expressed best wishes for an early resumption of peace process in Yemen, to seek a political settlement of the crisis. Ambassador Alashabi appreciated Pakistan’s principled position on Yemen and briefed the President on the latest situation in the country. The President reiterated Pakistan’s support for unity, sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity of Yemen and restoration of the legitimate government of President Abdurrabuh Mansour Hadi. Urging the need for full adherence to the resolutions of UN Security Council and OIC by all parties to the conflict, Dr.Arif Alvi expressed Pakistan’s unwavering support for an early resolution of the crisis. Referring to the Prime Minister’s offer of mediation for peace in Yemen, he said that the Parliament Resolution of 10 April 2015 strengthened the hands of the government to play a proactive diplomatic role to end the crisis. He expressed the hope that peace process for a political settlement of the dispute would be resumed at an early date, as dialogue was the only way to bring peace to Yemen. The President also extended invitation through the Ambassador to President and Prime Minister of Yemen to visit Pakistan. The President appreciated the generous efforts of the international community to help the people of Yemen, through provision of much-needed humanitarian aid. ***** ?
