Turkish Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Yuvaz Selim Kiran, called on the Minister for Law and Justice Barrister Farogh Naseem along with the Chairman of Turkish Maarif Foundation, Prof. Dr. Birol Akgun on Friday. The Turkish Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude on the hospitality extended by the Law Minister. He introduced the Maarif Foundation as a Turkish Government Organization, created by an Act of Turkish Parliament and discussed the measures that are needed to be taken to hand over the administration of Pak-Turk Schools to the Foundation. Maarif Foundation that was registered as an INGO in Pakistan in 2016 is engaged with more than 90 countries and has set up schools in almost 30 countries; Prof. Birol Akgun apprised the Pakistani side. He also informed the Pakistani Delegation that some militants are involved in subversive activities under the garb of religion and education and “we do not want them to hijack our relations”. Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Barrister Farogh Naseem, welcomed the delegation and explained that the Pakistanis enjoy close relations with Turkey and Turkish people. He stated that due to wrong perception created by the Turkish militants that they are supporters of Turkey and President Erdogan, these persons took reprieve under the Pakistani legal system. But that perception is gradually changing. He assured the Turkish side of his cooperation in the matters related to the transfer of the administration of the schools to Maarif Foundation but within the Pakistani system of Laws and Courts. The Federal Minister for Law and Justice also assured the Deputy Minister and the Turkish delegation that enemies of the Turkish State will not be allowed to stay in Pakistan. Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice Ms. Maleeka Bokhari was present during the meeting while the Turkish Ambassador Mr. Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul was in attendance from the Turkish side.
