President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that quality and standard of medical education is of pivotal importance as it is directly linked to the lives of human being. The President said this while talking to Vice Chancellor National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) Lt. Gen. Syed Muhammad Imran Majeed who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Wednesday. The President emphasized the standard of medical education in the country needs to be improved to produce professionally competent doctors in order to provide efficient healthcare services to the needy. He also underscored the role of qualified and professional faculty in producing quality medical graduates. He stated that values of integrity, honesty, responsibility and dedication need to be inculcated among young medical professionals. The President appreciated the services of NUMS in healthcare sector and stressed that national and international educational must be followed to make NUMS one of the leading medical universities of the world. He also underlined the importance of creating linkages between national and international universities to learn from each other. Lt. Gen. Syed Muhammad Imran Majeed briefed the President about matters pertaining to NUMS and plans to fully utilize the existing opportunities in order to provide medical services in a professional and efficient manner. ***** ?
