German Ambassador to Pakistan, Martin Kobler, along with Counsellor for Human Rights , Burghard Brinksmeier has called on the Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen M Mazari in Islamabad on Friday. They remained with the minister for some time and discussed the matters related to mutual relations and human rights in Pakistan and Germany. Minister apprised the Ambassador about the human rights situation and issues in Pakistan and how Pakistan has been tacking these issues through comprehensive strategy by effective legislation, implementation of the existing laws and by creating awareness in the society. Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari also informed the Ambassador about the steps which the government has taken for the protection of human rights. Besides, she shared that we have been working on three new Bills on Anti Torture and Custodial Death, Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Prohibition of Corporal Punishment including the Christian Divorce Bill. She reiterated her firm resolves to take all possible measures for the promotion and protection of human rights in Pakistan. She showed her commitment to work collectively to further promote this relation particularly for the protection of human rights. The Ambassador applauded the effective measures taken by the incumbent Government for the protection of human rights including the rights of women, minorities and children and assured his full support in this regard. *** ?
