The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi commemorated 53rd Defence Day of Pakistan to pay tribute to the Armed forces who rendered tremendous sacrifices in the service of their country, says a press release received from Abu Dhabi here today. In this connection, a reception was arranged at the local hotel which was attended by a large number of Ambassadors, military Attaches, senior civilian, high ranking military officials of the UAE Government, media and members of Pakistan community. His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Minister and Minister of Tolerance and His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi, the UAE Minister of State for Defence were the Chief Guests on the occasion. Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the UAE, Mr. Moazzam Ahmad Khan, in his remarks, highlighted the significance of the Day and remembered the sacrifices rendered by our armed forces to defend their homeland from internal and external threats. Referring to the sacrifices of the Pakistan nation in the fight against terrorism, the Ambassador paid special tribute to all Pakistanis who laid down their lives and lost their loved ones during this campaign. He also reiterated resolve of the resilient Pakistani Nation to overcome all challenges by displaying unity and courage. Ambassador Khan also highlighted the plight of Kashmiri people facing state sponsored atrocities and urged the international community to play its due role in resolving the longstanding dispute of Kashmir in accordance with the United Security Council resolutions and aspirations of Kashmiri people. The Ambassador particularly thanked the people and leadership of the UAE for always standing by Pakistan in difficult times. Recalling the close and multifaceted cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE in defence and security fields, the Ambassador also acknowledged the historic participation of the UAE's military contingent in the Pakistan National Day parade held in March 2018 in Islamabad.
