PR No. 40 WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM HAS LAUDED OUR 2ND SEPTEMBER TREE PLANTATION DRIVE AND ASKED OTHER COUNTRIES TO FOLLOW US. ADVISOR TO PM ON CLIMATE CHANGE MALIK AMIN ASLAM KHAN Islamabad: September 6, 2018

Advisor to PM on climate change Malik Amin Aslam Khan has said that our tree plantation drive #Plant4Pakistan is not only being lauded within the country but also getting recognition at international level. Malik Amin Aslam Khan said that World Economic Forum, while appreciating our tsunami tree plantation drive, uploaded a short motivational video at Twitter from their official handle, asking other countries to follow this plantation model to counter the hazards of global warming and other climate changes. Video states that Pakistan is one of those six countries who are most affected by global warming. Forest area of Pakistan is between 2-5% but according to the recommendation of the United Nations, it should be at least 12% of the total area and a massive tree plantation is a step in the right direction. World Economic Forum in this video also explained that trees not only cool down the cities but also remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Apart from producing oxygen, trees also help to reduce soil erosion and at the end of the video, WEF asked the other countries to follow the suit to save this planet from environmental hazards. Advisor to PM on climate change Malik Amin Aslam Khan while commenting on the video said that this project of ten billion tsunami tree plantation is an embodiment of real change which Imran Khan has promised and could be seen on the ground and such encouragement give more impetus to our resolve and we are committed to continue this drive with more passion and determination.
