Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr. Fehmida Mirza has said that the present government is committed for the promotion of sports in the country. She said that we will have to work on the promotion of sports and our culture to build soft image of Pakistan at international level. The Federal Minister was addressing as chief guest the launching ceremony of Tree Plantation Campaign at Sports Complex, Islamabad on Monday. Dr. Fehmida Mirza planted a sapling on the occasion. She said that this tree plantation campaign is the part of Prime Minister’s Tree Plantation drive which started on Sunday. The Federal Minister said that sports is as important as education as healthy body contains healthy mind. She said that we have to take our country towards betterment especially in the field of sports. The Federal Minister said that the sports policy will be formulated and this policy will be formed in consultation with all the stakeholders. She also urged electronic media to play its role for the promotion of sports in the country by airing at least one-hour sports programs on daily basis. Later talking to media persons, the Federal Minister said that government wanted to revive sports in the country, adding that we will revive our national game hockey. *** ?
