Adviser to Prime Minister on Aviation, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan, while presiding a meeting with the high officials of Meteorology on Monday said that in order to maximize the performance of Meteorology Department, it is a dire need of time to induct the modern and latest technology to upgrade the existing apparatus of Meteorology. On this occasion, Director General Meteorology Dr. Ghulam Rasool and other officials were also present. Sardar Methab Ahmad khan was briefed about the continuous efforts and performance of meteorology department.

Adviser to Prime Minister on Aviation, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan emphasized on upgrading the existing Radar system of meteorology to get desired results. He also stressed to update the flood prediction system, computerized weather forecasting system, earth quack and other disaster relief schemes. He said there is a need of well coordinated efforts to ensure the safety of civil aviation. He said that the requirements of 21st century have been changed and this era has become very challenging which demands us to make continuous efforts to embrace state of the art equipment and technology in order to get desired results.  He further said to upgrade early warning system, telecommunication facilities and forecasting techniques not only to get timely information but also to adopt a solid policy to minimize the consequences of natural disaster. He said that the upgraded technology will help metrology to minimize the dangers and destructions of natural disasters.
