Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Muhammad Yusuf Shaikh visited National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) head office here on Friday. Chairperson NCHD Razina Alam Khan welcomed the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training. Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Muhammad Yusuf Shaikh chaired briefing on activities and achievements of NCHD. The Federal Minister was apprised that functions of NCHD include literacy and non-formal basic education, skills training programs, universal primary education and primary health care. He was apprised that NCHD is working in 124 districts of Pakistan and presently it is managing 5,949 feeder schools which are located in all four provinces including FATA, GB and AJK. He was told that NCHD established 6,000 literacy centres for adult illiterates during 2017-18. These literacy centres are offering training to learners in basic literacy, life skills and income generation skills. NCHD has also established National Training Institute for Literacy and Non-Formal Education, which is first ever institute in Pakistan. The meeting was told that since its inception, NCHD established 164,190 adult literacy centres throughout the country and 3.84 million adult illiterate were made literate. Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Muhammad Yusuf Shaikh commended the efforts of NCHD Chairperson Razina Alam Khan and her team for the promotion of education and literacy. The Federal Minister also ensured his full support to NCHD for the cause of education and literacy. The meeting was attended by Chairperson NCHD Razina Alam Khan and officials of NCHD.
