PR No. 65 HIGH COMMISSIONER HOSTS EID-UL-FITR OPEN HOUSE IN LONDON A LARGE NUMBER OF BRITISH PAKISTANIS CELEBRATE EID TOGETHER Islamabad: June 16, 2018

H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas, Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK, hosted Eid-ul-Fitr Open House at his official residence, "Pakistan House" in London on 15 June 2018, to celebrate the auspicious occasion with the Pakistani community in the UK and the friends of Pakistan from the British society. This was the 4th consecutive Eid Open House arranged by the High Commissioner and his wife to bring together Pakistani families at one place to celebrate the joyous occasion, says a press release received here today from London. A large number of diaspora belonging to all walks of life attended the Open House and enjoyed the warm hospitality, ambience and delicious Pakistani cuisine. Sir Anwar Pervez, former Prime Minister Shoukat Aziz, Rehman Chishti MP and Mohammad Asghar, Member National Assembly of Wales were among the attendees, besides a large number of Mayors, Councillors, professionals, community leaders and representatives of media. Moreover, officials of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), and diplomatic fraternity also joined on the occasion. The High Commissioner and his wife spent the day with the guests. The attendees termed the event a great opportunity to socialize and meet and greet each other on this happy occasion. They said: “Celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr at Pakistan House gives them the feel of being in Pakistan and we love the festivity, culture, traditions, clothing and cuisine, all this is reminiscent of Pakistan where families and friends get together and celebrate Eid.” The guests said coming to the Pakistan House each time for the consecutive fourth year has further strengthened their bond with the High Commission and their country. They lauded High Commissioner’s initiative to reach out and bring families and friends together on the auspicious day of Eid. Cultural segment of the Open House turned out to be a great attraction. Qawwal Ameer Hussain and Humnawa presented some beautiful Sufi poetry in the form of Qawwalis and received huge applause. Amateur singer and famous broadcaster Durdana Ansari also presented some popular Pakistani songs and charmed the audience. Special arrangements were made to entertain the children, including Bouncy Castle, Candy Corner and Henna and Bangles Stall where they had fun time during the day out. The Open House provided a good opportunity for the High Commission officials and the community to celebrate Eid together. Presence of the members of the Pakistani as well as the British society in a large number at the Pakistan House made the day memorable. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
