Mr. Stephan Hadley Former National Security Advisor of USA accompanied by Mr. William Taylor and Mr. Andrew Wilder from United States Institute of Peace (USIP) called on National Security Adviser Lt. Gen (R) Nasser Khan Janjua this evening.  Matter concerning regional security, stability and current situation in Afghanistan came under elaborate discussion.  In context of reviewing US policy for Afghanistan under new administration, the members of USIP sought NSA’s perspective towards ongoing situation in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan was discussed at length. NSA dilated upon situation in Afghanistan including the process of reconciliation.  He apprised that this is one conflict that has not even concluded yet the forces have already been  drawn down which has not only weakened Afghanistan’s military capacity but has ushered us into a stalemate.  NSA suggested that the Quadrilateral Coordination Group (US, China, Pakistan and Afghanistan)  needs to be reactivated immediately with the resolve to help the process of reconciliation in Afghanistan.  Peace and stability in Afghanistan would serve Pakistan and everyone in the Region / World.  Cooperative framework between Afghanistan and Pakistan in multiple areas i.e. Political, Diplomatic, Military and Intelligence and people to people contact would be helpful to improve situation in Afghanistan.
