Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Engr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman has said that the government is committed for the promotion of quality education in the country. The Federal Minister was addressing as Chief Guest the launching ceremony of Non-Formal Education Management Information System (NFMIS) Web Version at main Auditorium of Academy of Educational Planning and Management (AEPAM) here on Wednesday. He said that government has always been keen for the peaks of excellence in education and wanted to improve the quality of education in the country. The Federal Minister appreciated AEPAM for launching NFEMIS web version in collaboration with JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), and said that AEPAM today is vibrant organization. He said that collection of data regarding non-formal education is very important and it manifests that we are moving forward also in the field of non-formal education in the country. The Federal Minister emphasized upon importance of non-formal education and said paying special attention towards non-formal education is also very important. We can not progress without focusing on non-formal education in the country, he said. He said that government has included non-formal education in education policy while realizing its importance. Baligh Ur Rehman said that ten inter provincial education ministers conferences were held during the tenure of the present government and all these conferences emphasized upon the importance of non-formal education. He said that great numbers of non-formal education schools have been opened in the country under National Commission for Human Development (NCHD). The Federal Minister said that it was because of present government’s special attention towards education that the number of the out of school children in the has dropped phenomenally and enrolment in schools increased in the country. The Federal said that the educational assessment is very important and without assessment we can not move forward. He said assessment not only helps to point shortcoming but also support to know about improvements. He said that in order to compete in international assessment study, we are going to participate in international TIMSS study (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) this year.
