PR No.123 Curtain Raiser DEMP to organize Photographic Exhibition and Essay& Drawing competition to mark Pakistan Day Islamabad, March 20, 2018

Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications has organized a colourful event on 22nd March 2018 to commemorate ‘Pakistan Day’ with national zeal and fervor. The Pakistan Day is celebrated every year across the country and Pakistan’s Missions abroad on 23rd March to mark the passage of Pakistan Resolution on March 23, 1940 and the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan on 23rd March 1956. The Event will start with flag hoisting ceremony and performance of brass band by Punjab Constabulary. Pakistan Day celebrations will commence with the opening of a 6-day photographic, exhibition titled ‘Icons of Pakistan Freedom Movement’ on March 22, 2018 at Aiwan-e-Quaid Fatima Jinnah Park Islamabad. The exhibition to be inaugurated by Ms. Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting, National History & Literary Heritage will display over 200 rare photographs and paintings of Father of the Nation, Thinker of Pakistan and other prominent leaders of Pakistan movement besides chronology of events leading to the creation of Pakistan. The Inauguration ceremony will be attended among others by eminent academicians, intellectuals, artists, literary figures, media persons and senior government functionaries. After inauguration, the exhibition will remain on display till March 27, 2018 for general public at the Aiwan-e- Quaid daily from 09.00 am to 6.00 pm. To promote awareness about Pakistan Movement among the youth, the Directorate has also arranged an Essay Writing and Drawing& Painting competitions on topics, ‘Importance of Pakistan Resolution’ and ‘ Minar-e- Pakistan’ respectively. The top three selected essays and sketches will be made part of the 6-day exhibition and the winners will be awarded certificates and cash prizes by Minister Ms. Marriyum Aurangzeb during Prize Distribution Ceremony to be held on 22nd March 2018. *****
