PR No. 141 DRAP asks Provincial Governments for strict compliance of the Drug Sales Rules for medicines containing controlled substances. Islamabad: February 19, 2018

Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan has asked Chairmen of Provincial Quality Control Boards of Punjab, Sind, KPK, Baluchistan, Gilgit Baltistan and AJK to ensure strict compliance of the Drug Sales Rules particularly related to the sales of medicines containing controlled substances. The DRAP spokesperson has stated that DRAP is taking steps to improve the legitimate use of controlled medicines and to stop its misuse. He further added that it has been observed that pharmacies and Distributors are not maintaining proper sale record of medicines / products containing controlled substances according to respective provincial “Drug Sale Rules”. It is mandatory to maintain the complete sale records of medicines containing controlled substances and such medicines can not be sold without prescription of registered medical practitioner. This decision was made by the Committee for Allocation of Quota of Controlled Substances constituted under S.R.O.
