The event gathered representatives of the Pakistani-Kashmiri community in Dubai. The messages of President and Prime Minister were read out in the event. On this occasion, the Consul General of Pakistan, Syed Javed Hassan said that right from the day one, the people of Kashmir did not accept India’s illegal occupation and started a struggle with the total support of Kashmiri public in 1947. Finding it difficult to suppress the struggle of Kashmiris, India on January 1, 1948, approached the UN Security Council to address the matter, he added. He pointed out that the UN Security Council through its successive resolutions impliedly nullified Indian occupation of Kashmir declaring it as a disputed territory. Consul General, therefore, urged the international community to value and respect peaceful struggle of Kashmiris and persuade India to resolve the Kashmir dispute through negotiation in accordance with the UN resolutions on priority basis. He also called for investigations by the International community and other human rights groups into ongoing brutalities of Indian forces in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier representatives of the Pakistani-Kashmiri community in UAE mentioned in their speeches that the occupation forces are involved into blatant violations of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir. They apprehended that India is hell bent upon changing the demographic composition of the territory and convert Muslims into a minority. They also appealed the international community to persuade India for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute according to the terms of UN Security Council resolutions. *******
