President Mamnoon Hussain has said that calligraphy is a great artistic and cultural heritage of the Muslims. Muslim Ummah and Pakistan can promote their soft image by paying attention to this art, he added. The President said this while talking to Calligrapher of Masjid-e-Nabvi Ustad Shafiq uz Zaman who along-with a delegation called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad. The President stated that it is a matter of honour for us that a Pakistani calligrapher had an opportunity to work in the Masjid-e-Nabvi(PBUH). It has not only earned goodwill for Shafiq uz Zaman but for the entire country, he added. He underlined that young calligrapher will have an opportunity to explore modern trends of calligraphy through the work of Shafiq uz Zaman. The President underscored that the calligraphers should benefit from modern techniques and developments which will have a positive impact on their work. The President emphasized that calligraphy is cultural heritage of Muslims which needs to be further promoted. On the occasion, prominent calligrapher Wasil Shahid also presented a compilation of the work of Pakistani calligraphy to the President Mamnoon Hussain.
