PR No.17 CEASEFIRE VIOLATION BY INDIA ON 01-04-2017 Islamabad: 03, April 2017

The Director General (SA & SAARC), Dr. Mohammad Faisal, summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. J.P. Singh and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Indian occupation forces, on 01 April, 2017 at 1640 hours, on the LoC in Chirikot sector, resulting in the shahadat of an 18 years old civilian, Mr. Muhammad Attique Qureshi (s/o Muhammad Khalil Qureshi) r/o village Polas, Chirikot on 02 April, 2017.

The deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed condemnable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws.

The Director General urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding; investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC.
